Rainbow Cake

My daughter wanted a Rainbow party this year and I was so excited because I had seen so many cute rainbow party ideas on Pinterest lately. So I used a few ideas I saw online and on Pinterest. One of my favorite parts is the Royal Icing "Emma".  Emma wasn't too impressed by this cake until we cut into it. Then she LOVED it!

Layers

For the ladies I visit from church I try to make them all a cake for their birthday to give them as a gift. It was my friend Mataya's birthday and she is cute and stylish so I wanted to make her a cake that was fun and modern and I saw a cake from pinkpeachcakes, (who's cakes are so awesome) that I really liked so I used it for inspiration.

Nascar Cake - Grooms Cake

A friend of mine was having a family reunion in celebration of her son's marriage and asked me to make two cakes for the party. First a Grooms cake for her son who's favorite Nascar racer was Bobbi Labonti. This car was a lot of work but a lot of fun to re-create.

Brides Cake

The next cake my friend ask me to make was a Brides cake. I wanted this one to be very simple because the Grooms cake had so much detail. I also wanted it to be a little rustic and elegant at the same time. I am happy with how it turned out.

August Wedding

I made this cake for such a great couple. Their colors were blue and green and they wanted the hydrangea to sit on the top as the pop of green and the blue would come from the fondant ribbon around each layer. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so we had to take this picture with my husbands phone. It's a little crooked and fuzzy but until I get the picture from the photographer this will have to do.

Endodondist Cake

Our good friend is graduating from University of Maryland and will be moving to Arizona to start his practice as an Endododist. We are REALLY sad to see them go!!  You can't really tell from the picture but it spells out Congrats Ian with root canal files. Also I tried to make sure I got the right amount of teeth on the cake and Ian assured me that I did. Whew!!! :)

Firetruck Cake

A friend of mine asked me to make a firetruck cake for his little boy turning 3.  The fireman didn't turn out the way I wanted him to so I left him off the cake so they could choose to add him later if they wanted (that is why he is not attached ) A few details that you can't tell from this picture are that the two lights on the front top of the cake are flashing red yellow and blue lights. There is also both the american flag and Maryland state flag on the truck. Sadly we forgot to take a picture of the back of the cake which had a big yellow and orange hazzard type sign. It was a fun cake to make, but next time I will pray for no humidity!

Toy Story

I made this cake for my own birthday boy! He is just obsessed with Toy Story. Everything is "Buzz, Buzz"! I wish we had taken a picture of the inside because I colored the 6 layers of cake 3 different colors. Green, blue and purple to match buzz's colors. This was a white cake with chocolate ganache between the layers.
Jack just loved the cake which made it all worth it. He just kept staring at it and pointing as if to let us know just who's cake it was.

Thomas the Tank Engine

One of my very good friends threw a party for her son who just LOVES Thomas and friends. This cake was SO much fun to make. It was fun to sculpt Thomas's face and see him come to life.
My favorite part was when they came to pick up the cake Christopher saw the cake and right away said "Whoa!! Look at the ...." then proceeded to name the different parts of the train. Obviously I am not as smart as Christopher because I couldn't even name the parts of the train to you and I made the cake! :)
I am glad he liked it!!

Baby Shower

A friend of mine was having her first baby and I wanted to help her celebrate so I made this cake for her baby shower. They are big Brigham Young University fans so I added a personal touch and made the "Y" in boy to match their school logo. I had a lot of fun making the clothes line on this cake. I love all the little details.

Knock out Cake

I wanted to make a special cake for a friend of mine on her birthday so I asked her husband what shape I should make it. He came up with the fun idea of making it a boxing glove. Amy is one of the sweetest people but man she's a tough chick! It was a bit of a tricky shape to get right but I think it was a "hit"! :)

Halloween Birthday

This cake was requested as a Halloween birthday cake. The layers of this cake were orange, green and purple. And when they cut into it the kids all had such a big surprise! They were so excited to see the cake was different colors.

Two Princesses Cake

A Grandpa and Grandma ordered this cake for their 2 grand daughters who were visiting. This princess cake needed to accommodate both girls and their age so we opted for something general enough to meet those needs but fun enough to make them both feel like it was their own special cake. Each name occupies its own side of the cake so that each girl has her "own" cake. I loved the way this one turned out.

Carrot Cake

I made this cake for my mom for her birthday. It's a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The swirls in the cake add a nice whimsical feel to the cake and made these fondant flowers just to add a special touch.

Here comes the cake

This was my first wedding cake! It was so nice to work with the bride because she was so easy going. She had an idea of what she wanted but was also open to suggestions as well. This cake is a traditional white cake with buttercream frosting. The filling was made from her mothers own homemade raspberry/peach jam. That added a nice personal touch to it as well. I was actually leaving town the morning of the wedding so I wasn't able to see this cake in its full glory with the cake topper but I was happy with how it turned out.

Unicorn Cake

My sweet little Emma is OBSESSED with unicorns. I don't even really know where she heard of them but she loves them. She just had to have a unicorn party for her birthday. She looked up ideas with me on the computer and had in her mind just how she wanted the cake to look so this is to my 4 year olds specifications :). The writing on the cake was really rushed so didn't come out like I had hoped but the unicorn (which was the most important part to her) came out just right!

Sunburst flower cake

This is one of my most favorite cakes. I made this for a friend of mine for her birthday. I wanted it to be something classy and trendy at the same time because that is what I think she is. The flowers were a bit tedious but when it all came together it was SOO worth it. I would love the opportunity to make this cake again!

Over the Hill Cake

I made this cake for my friends who's husband was turning 31. She wanted to rub in the fact that she was 30 and at her prime and that by him being 31 was on his way downhill.  I wish I had a picture of the other side of the cake. Things get less green and beautiful on the other side and mostly rocky and cliff-like. :)

Dr's Coat Cake

My friends husband is going through medical school and so we figured a Dr.'s jacket would be fitting. It was a lot of fun to make all of the tools on his jacket. It would be fun to make this one with fondant.

Pirate Ship

This pirate ship cake was SO much fun to make. The "ocean" is a sheet cake and the pirate ship is a second cake stacked on top. The sails were made by my husband and they add such a great touch. The cannon was a fun effect to use the candle so we could "light the cannon".

Graduation cake

This cake was for my husband and his graduating class. It's made out of 4 layers of cake. The 4th layer being the "Y" on the top.
